Novel concept for stabilising a hydraulic circuit containing counterbalance valve and pressure compensated flow supply

In this paper, a novel concept for stabilising a hydraulic system containing a counterbalance valve and a pressure compensated flow supply is presented. The concept utilizes a secondary circuit where a low-pass filtered value of the load pressure is generated and fed back to the compensator of the flow supply valve. The novel concept has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. A linear model has been developed to verify the improved stability conditions. Comparison of KVP and RSI for Controlling KUKA Robots Over ROS

In this work, an open-source ROS interface based on KUKAVARPROXY for control of KUKA robots is compared to the commercial closed-source Robot Sensor Interface available from KUKA. This comparison looks at the difference in how these two approaches communicate with the KUKA robot controller, the response time and tracking delay one can expect with the different interfaces, and the difference in use cases for the two interfaces. The investigations showed that the KR16 with KRC2 has a 50 ms response time, and RSI has a 120 ms tracking delay, with negligible delay caused by the ROS communication stack. Impact of viewing distance on relative depth judgements for stimuli in physical space

In natural viewing, numerous depth cues are available to the visual system, but their significance varies considerably depending on the viewing distance. How is it reflected in the outcome of depth judgements? We have designed a psychophysical experiment with a limited number of depth cues to examine distance-related changes in the correct response rate and time. Twenty young adults evaluated relative depth of stimuli in physical space. Each time four constant angular size achromatic stimuli were presented on a volumetric multi-planar display. Using adaptive fuzzy-neural control to minimize response time in cluster-based web systems

We have developed content-aware request distribution algorithm called FARD which is a client-and-server-aware, dynamic and adaptive distribution policy in cluster-based Web systems. It assigns each incoming request to the server with the least expected response time. To estimate the expected response times it uses the fuzzy estimation mechanism. The system is adaptive as it uses a neural network learning ability for its adaptation. Simulations based on traces from the 1998 World Cup show that when we consider the response time, FARD can be more effective than the state-of-the-art content-aware policy LARD.
First experimental demonstration of a plasmonic MMI switch in 10 Gb/s true data traffic conditions

We report the first experimental performance evaluation of a 75 um long plasmonic MMI switch, hetero-integrated on a SOI platform, operating with 10Gb/s data signals. The switch exhibits 2.9μs response time and 44.5% modulation depth while its extinction ratio varies from 5.4 to -1.5 dB for 35mW switching power. Error-free performance was achieved.

We demonstrate the first system-level evaluation of an active plasmonic device in 10Gb/s data traffic conditions. Thermo-optic ON/OFF modulation with 3μs response time and 10mW power consumption is presented using an asymmetric MZI silicon-plasmonic gate.
